Glasgow Again 2

We’ve spent the last few hours today working with different cello sounds and materials. It’s kind of hilarious work, as we’re exploring extended techniques and relatively open appearing instructions in really detailed ways! It sounds a bit like a study in terrible cello playing (grunting, grinding, hacking, scratching and extremely sketchy harmonics) but it really demands a lot of concentration, deconstruction of abstract gestures, all of which will have to be repeated pretty precisely in the end. I can’t imagine what a person sitting outside the door listening to our work would think!

We’ve also been shooting a lot of video, so Nick can remember what we talked about, and to use in his research reports.

As of this evening our form is laid out in pages stuck to the wall in Nick’s office.

Did I mention there was LEGO involved? Stay tuned!
