Chimera
Chimera Is the bicoastal musical meeting of three of Canada’s most active and dedicated improvisers François Houle (clarinet: Saanich BC), Norman Adams (cello) and Tim Crofts (piano).Together, Chimera spontaneously creates music in the moment, through listening, virtuosity and the harnessing of years of experience in performance and creation. Chimera’s aesthetic is born in free jazz and the contemporary new music of the American and European avant-garde, mixed with individual broad musical experience, creating a uniquely Canadian sound. It is this subtle, yet markedly authentic aesthetic that is at the crux of the Chimera project: the development of a body of work that brings forth the music that defines what we do and who we are, in Canada. Chimera is now touring Canada and pushing beyond, to share their unique and very Canadian new music. Check out “Constellations” their first releases, on AfterDay Audio
